About Barbara Tidwell
What about Barbara Tidwell? Well, I live on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest. I am an old smart ass geek who plays guitar and loves to cook. Oh, and I swear like sailor and really enjoy the outdoors. Whidbey Island is a gorgeous place to live, with great people and fun outdoor stuff to do. You are probably saying to yourself, doesn’t it rain all the time there? Well yes, more rain falls in the Pacific Northwest than cabinet members fall from Donald Trump’s administration. However, I love the rain and I love big storms so I get to see a lot of both here. Donald Trump, however, well let us just leave politics out of this.
I am a self-proclaimed chef, I enjoy watching the Food Network nonstop, reading cookbooks, long walks on the beach (oops wrong website), and learning new things. I don’t proclaim to know it all, but what I do know I love to share with others. I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do and maybe have a laugh or two while you are in the kitchen. Of course, that would imply that I can be funny.
My specialties are outdoor cooking and simple delicious comfort foods. Often times I combine the two, so you will find a lot of great comfort food recipes that I have adapted to outdoor cooking. You will also find a lot of stuff my mom used to cook. Mom was a big influence on my cooking, so was my dad. However, neither one cooks anymore. Dad is too old, and unfortunately, mom is far too dead. Still, I have great memories of my parents cooking up decadent meals for family gatherings and holidays. I have tried to recreate some of the stuff they did well. I hope I have done them justice.
What else could you possibly want to know about me? OK, I love beer, I make beer, I am learning to pair beer with food. I am a definite beer snob. If you show up at my door with a six pack of Bud, I’ll probably sick the dogs on you. I am warning you, little Fiona can be quite fierce, just ask that damn school bus that drives by every morning.
So that is a little about me. Please feel free to contact me and introduce yourself. I would love to hear from you. You can also comment on my posts. I love to hear what you think about the recipes and how you may have changed them, or better yet, what I can do to make them better. Thanks for being here, these are minutes you will never get back and I appreciate every one of them!
Comfort food made simple.
